Wilderness Wanderings explores many aspects of the Lenten season, from its connection with the extended and circuitous route of the ancient Hebrews to our own spiritual journeys. Oden's insightful book leads us to a clearer understanding of inward disciplines (prayer, fasting, silence, and Scripture reading) and outward disciplines (simplicity, solitude, study, and service). In so doing, we reflect upon our own baptism and call to Christian service. Each chapter includes questions for reflection and guidelines for small groups or a Lenten retreat. Marilyn Brown Oden is a United Methodist laywoman and the author of several other books. She is a seminar and retreat leader and currently lives in Dallas, Texas.
